A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum ... and the Coliseum

Again we were surprised at how easily we were able to secure ticket and explore again today. Only about a 15-minute wait for tickets for Palatine Hill, Forum and Coliseum. It was another long and tiring day, but we all enjoyed seeing this part of history.

According to someone way smarter than me - Palatine Hill dates back to about 1000 BC

There are nooks and crannies (crannys?) everywhere

Looking back at the city from the top

And down into the Forum

Who are those people?

The Gate

Those steps sure look steep

Up close

The Coliseum

The floor

Girls in Blue

Sustahs

I swear we did not color coordinate that morning. We look like goobers!!

Just like they say in the brochure

That's what all this walking and eating will do to you.

Can anyone date this?

There you go, Gina. Wish you were here!

Emma did not quite expect the heads on her grilled scrimps

But the calamari was delish!!

We declared the risotto with seafood the best

Although the veal saltimbocca was excellenta.

Followed by the gnocchi with clams.

Not sure, but I think this guy came straight out of the Tiber

But the best part was the baby strawberries with gelato

And of course the terimasu

Our landmark to know we are almost back to the apartment

Nowhere in the vrbo ad for the apartment did they mention it was a fourth-floor walkup
