Saturday brought with it a visit to St. Peter's and the Vatican Museum. We had expected long line but were pleasantly surprised. We were shocked, however, with how much was in the Vatican Museum before you get to the Sistine Chapel. I do not think that anyone can properly prepare you for how long a walk it is. All this walking made us hungry, of course.

Very surprised at how few people were there when we arrived at 10 a.m. Guess they were sleeping in.

Beautiful mosaic floor

yet another ceiling

and another floor

Emma getting a drink of water. I cannot understand this. Rome has drinking fountains almost at every corner, yet they charge you for bottle water at every meal. Whatz up with that?
All that walking make your feet hot and sweaty. That's got to be what this thing is for.

Kissing the Mafia Don

Dave, thinking that he was at home in Naples, ordered the lamb meatloaf for dessert

Another restaurant kitty - they roamed in and out like the wayward musicians. You'd look up and someone different was play from 15 minutes earlier.
Daddy, you're two minutes off

While Dave was having meatloaf, we were having pear cake ....
and apple pie
